Slow-Roasted, Hand-Carved
Made the Right Way
Shawarma is one of the most beloved dishes in Mediterranean cuisine: layers of seasoned meat, slow-roasted until the edges crisp, then hand-carved to order. At Phoenician Garden, located at First and Herndon near St. Agnes Medical Center in Fresno, we've been serving some of the best shawarma in the Central Valley since 2003. It's one of the most-ordered items on our menu, and for good reason.
Our chicken shawarma and beef shawarma both start with whole cuts of meat, never pre-sliced or processed. Each cut is layered with a blend of Mediterranean spices passed down through the Hmaidan family, a recipe that hasn't changed since we opened our doors. The meat marinates for over 12 hours before slow-roasting, which is what gives our shawarma that signature caramelized edge. Every serving is carved fresh to order throughout the day.
Every shawarma plate comes with sides made from scratch in our kitchen: house-made garlic sauce (toum), house-made hummus, fresh-chopped salad, and warm pita. Beef shawarma plates also include tahini and pickled turnips. If you're looking for something handheld, our shawarma wraps are a customer favorite. Your choice of chicken or beef rolled in warm lavash with garlic sauce, pickles, tomatoes, and onions. You can also order a half-chicken, half-beef combination plate if you want the best of both.
All of our meats are sourced from trusted suppliers, and prepared with care every day. Whether you're dining in at our restaurant, picking up a shawarma wrap on your lunch break, ordering online for pickup, or getting shawarma delivery to anywhere in Fresno or Clovis, you'll taste the difference that slow-roasting and fresh ingredients make. It's the reason over 1,300 guests have left five-star reviews and why shawarma remains one of the top sellers on our full menu.

What makes Phoenician Garden's shawarma different?
We use whole cuts of meat, never pre-sliced or processed, marinated overnight in our family's spice blend and slow-roasted throughout the day.
