Our Story

The Phoenician Garden Mediterranean Bar and Grill is proudly owned and operated by the Hmaidan Family: Mounir (Mo), his wife Bebe, their son Tarek, and Daughter Lana. Mo has always had a love of cooking and making people happy! Growing up in Lebanon, Mo worked in a Mediterranean Restaurant; this is where he first realized his great passion for cooking Mediterranean Cuisine, as well as his desire to own his own Restaurant. After finishing school Mo moved to Los Angeles where he worked in a Greek Restaurant, there he learned how to properly prepare all the classic Greek dishes. Working at a Lobster House in Van Nuys, Mo learned how to prepare delicious classic seafood dishes. Soon after Mo and Bebe married, they opened their first restaurant, a Diner, in Turlock, California. The Diner was a great success, but, missing their family, Mo sold the Diner in Turlock to move closer to family in the Fresno area. Mo opened a Mediterranean Restaurant in Partnership in Downtown Fresno which had a great following; he sold the restaurant desiring to create his own unique restaurant concept. In 2003 The Phoenician Garden Mediterranean Bar and Grill opened at its current location. Phoenician Garden’s business continues to grow. Mo continues to create new, innovative, dishes that typify the best of Mediterranean Cuisine! Phoenician Garden goes to great detail in the presentation of its dishes, resulting in an appetizing appearance that tastes as good as it looks. Phoenician Garden serves all the classic Mediterranean dishes, but also has a few dishes with an “American” twist!
